RIMMF is: -- a visualization tool for catalogers, to help them to get used to thinking of RDA, instead of thinking AACR/MARC. -- a cataloging training tool, to help educators teach RDA thinking (which is an implementation of FRBR thinking)
This article summarizes a presentation on RDA given at the Reaching Forward conference in Rosemont, Illinois, in May 2011. A practical look at considerations. After a brief look at the historical background and the reasons for developing a new code, the presentation focused on some notable differences between AACR2 & RDA in structure, terminology, the treatment of certain classes of access points, and various aspects of description as reflected in bibliographic records.
This Group is charged with the development of an implementation plan to prepare the LC/NACO authority file for RDA. This Group's work builds on the work of the PCC Task Group on AACR2 & RDA Acceptable Headings.
