When searching Montclair's library catalog (= FIND BOOKS & MEDIA on the library homepage) begin with the Advanced Search link, found on the left side of the search-box: This 3-tiered search form will allow you to use specific "search indexes," such as Title or Author or Subject.
If you're looking for nonfiction, you can search by subject by placing two or more keywords on two or more lines and using either the search-index Keyword or the search-index Subject. Some keywords and subjects are given below: Click, then modify; or use as search-terms.
If you click on a search-term below, you can, on the following page, narrow the results--by finding the Advanced Search link at the top-left (of that page) and then combining the initial search-term with different search-term on another line.
Another option: Click on one of these search terms, and then, on the page that follows, go to one of the left-side filters, such as the eBook or eVideo filters; or the Subject menu, located on the lower left, near the bottom.

| Portuguese | short stories | Spanish | Spanish language | study and teaching |
If you know the book you're looking for, go to the library catalog (= FIND BOOKS & MEDIA on the library homepage), and take two or three words from the title and search for them using the Title index in the Advanced Search form. Place the author's last name, if you know it, in the Author index. If you'd like a foreign language edition, choose Spanish or Portuguese from the Language filter on the left side of the search-results page.
(NB: I think searching for books with a few known Title-words in combination with the Author's last name is the best way to find a book. We often think we know the title of a book when we don't know it as exactly as it has been listed in the catalog.)

The MSU libraries have close to three thousand works of fiction published in the Spanish or Portuguese languages. If you are not sure what novel you want, you can use the Advanced Search form to browse all that are available.
You don't need to type in any search terms to do this. In Advanced Search, just scroll down to where it says “Filter by.” There, select “Spanish” or “Portuguese” under the heading Language and “Fiction” under Content Type. Scroll down farther and click on Search; then browse the results.
