When searching Montclair's library catalog--located under FIND BOOKS & MEDIA on the library homepage--begin with the red Advanced Search link, found on the left side of the search-box, because the 3-tiered Advanced Search form will allow you to use specific "search indexes," such as Title or Author or Subject.
If you're looking for nonfiction, you can search by subject--placing two or more keywords on two or more lines and using either Keyword or Subject as the search index. Some keywords and subjects are given below as examples. Or you can use one of the links below and narrow results using another search term of your choice. And use the subject filter located near the bottom of the filters column--on the left side of the results page. Or use other filters such as the eBook or eVideo--also on the left side of the page.
bilingualism | dictionaries | grammar | language | language acquisition |
language learning | Latin America | linguistics | literature | novels |
Portuguese | short stories | Spanish | Spanish language | study and teaching |
If you know the book you're looking for, take two or three words from the title and search for them in the Title index. Place the author's last name, if you know it, in the Author index. If you'd like a foreign language edition, choose Spanish or Portuguese from the Language filter on the left side of the search-results page.
If you want a work of fiction but are not sure what novel you want, you could search using novel or novels as a keyword and then filter the results. But a better way is to bypass the tiered Advanced Search form initially and instead scroll down to select appropriate choices--on the bottom left--for Format (book), Language (e.g., Spanish), Reading level (e.g., Juvenile) and Content Type (e.g., Fiction). Then go back to the 3-tiered form for further filtering, if necessary.
