How the Library Can Help

The library provides access to thousands of resources that can be useful to your students as they complete research assignments. Get in touch with us when designing your assignment. We can recommend tools and resources your students can use at different stages during their work (e.g. getting started, statistics, background information, scholarly articles).

Work with Your Librarians

Research Appointment
Review or brainstorm research assignments with your librarian during an online or in-person appointment. These appointments are usually booked at least a day out, giving the librarian time to review your draft assignment and prepare to help.
Ask a Librarian
Have a brief chat with a librarian (chat, phone, email) to get an idea of what resources your students could use to complete the assignment you are designing.

Research Guides
Browse disciplinary guides to research resources created by Montclair State librarians. You might find out we own something you didn't know about!
Library Catalog
Search the library catalog for books, ebooks, streaming media, encyclopedias, handbooks and more. This search can also pull up many book chapters which can be a great starting point!
Database A-Z List
Point your students to one or more of our over 200 databases and search tools. Include this information in your assignment directions with advice on how to use. Don't assume your students will find it on their own!
