Mendeley

Mendeley is available both as desktop and cloud based software. It's portable, meaning you can take your account with you after leaving Montclair State University.

If you are a frequent user of ScienceDirect, Mendeley may be a good option as they are owned by the same parent company (Elsevier) and integrate well with each other.

Step 1: Download and Mendeley

Mendeley software is available for Windows, OSX, and Linux. If you are using a Chromebook, you will not be able to use the Mendeley desktop software, but will be able to use the cloud-based version.

Step 2: Register for a Mendeley Account

Your Mendeley account will share credentials with Elsevier and the Science Direct databases.

Step 3: Install web importer

Install either the Mendeley web importer or chrome extension

Step 4: Install Microsoft Word or LibreOffice plugin

If the plugin did not automatically install during the Mendeley installation process, you can download and install it separately here.
