Scholarly/Academic/Refereed/Peer reviewed Journals

Scholarly journal articles, also called academic or peer-reviewed, tend to be written by experts in the field. Characteristics are:

  • Lengthy and detailed
  • Include abstract or summary of research
  • Written by specialists and experts doing original research
  • Reviewed and evaluated before publication
  • Intended for academic use
  • Use technical or professional language
  • Ends with reference list
  • Contain few, if any, advertisements
