A library research guide created for students in COUN 589, Student Services in Higher Education.

How to Find a Literature Review

When searching for other literature reviews, you'll probably want to start by finding a disciplinary database.

  • Go to the Sprague Library list of Databases A-Z
  • Select your subject from the first dropdown box
  • The yellow "Best Bets!" box at the top of the results page list librarian recommendations
  • Or, browse through the full list of results.

You can search for keywords like "literature review" OR "review of the literature" in the search box. Experimenting with putting your phrases in quotes or selecting "Title" from the search dropdown can bring up different results.

Once you've reached your results page, you might also be able to limit to literature reviews via category limiters on the left of your search.

For example, PsycINFO lets you limit to literature reviews under "Methodology":

The "Methodology" category with the "literature review" highlighted.

While ProQuest Central lets you limit by "Document Types":

If you haven't yet selected a database. searching for "literature review" on the library homepage's Find Articles search also brings up results.

You can limit to "literature reviews" on this page as well under "Subject".
